"In 2007, Trinidad and Tobago suffered 208 road deaths or 19.9 per 100,000 of its population. Twenty of those deaths were children. This is a frightening statistic when you compare it with similar figures from other parts of the world:
Trinidad: 19.9 deaths per 100,000
USA: 13.6 deaths per 100,000
Mexico: 10.2 deaths per 100,000
Ireland: 8.2 deaths per 100,000
Australia: 7.7 deaths per 100,000
UK: 4.9 deaths per 100,000
In other words, when driving in T&T you are four times as likely to be killed in a fatal accident than when driving in the UK, twice as likely as when driving in Mexico."
